Razer Exactmat Gaming Mousepad

I know quite a few gamers that don’t use a mouse pad at all. They simply use their desk for a mouse surface. I did that for quite some time as well. Eventually there was a large worn out area on my desk from many hours of gaming. This became uneven and I didn’t feel I had the accuracy I would get from an actual mouse surface. So, I tried a few standard ones. Mostly the soft surfaces for general use. Eventually I decided to invest in gaming mouse pad which was the razer exactmat.

I have now used this surface for about 3 years. I have never really compared the flat desk to the exactmat side by side, but I don’t think I could handle using the desk or a general purpose mouse pad now that I have been using this one for so long.

The exactmat is an Aluminum surface and is reversible. One side has a rougher texture which is for less sensitivity and the other is smooth for higher precision. In truth, I use both. It really depends on what trend I am on. I may use one side for many months and then change to the other for a while. Overall I probably use the smooth side more often.

The aluminum surface has not warn at all. And I have put many hours of gaming into it. The only issue I have had over time is the rougher side especially has collected dirt on it and doesn’t really clean well. So, I really don’t use the rough side anymore. However, if you keep the mouese pad clean on a regular basis this shouldn’t be much of a problem. Also, it took at least 2 years before this happened.

The surface is fairly large. So, if you plan on buying this be sure you have enough room on your computer desk for it. It’s measurements are 330mm length x 265mm width. I do like the large size of the exactmat since it is needed for fps gaming which is what I usually play. It’s not often the moues pad isn’t large enough. I do run out of real estate every once in a while and my mouse will fall off the mouse pad. But, this doesn’t happen often and if I keep my mouse centered on the pad it can be avoided.

It also has rubber fittings on each side so that you don’t have to worry about the pad sliding around. I don’t think it has ever slid on me. And as I pointed out in the beginning of this article, there is no wear at all. The only changes in the surface is from dirt that seems to be part of the mouse pad now.

Overall I would recommend this mouse pad. After using it for so long I wouldn’t want to be without it. For around $30 you get a mouse pad that will keep a very consistent surface for years. And that’s a pretty good deal.
